Nowadays, you cannot speak of underground rap without mentioning Abidjan. Being the capital city of Cote d'Ivoire, Abidjan has become a hotspot in underground rap culture. It all began in 2014 when "Kiff no beat", the precursor of a new generation of rappers categorized as " Rap Ivoire" merged on to the scene. This has inspired a new generation of artists to follow in their footsteps. While scouting in Treichville I met up with Walid, an up and coming beatmaker who quickly invited me to his sanctuary and introduced me to his crew.. Amongst them were rappers he produces and some of his best friends.
